Cardinal in the Pine

Cardinal in the Pine is my contribution to the 2012 Coastal Quilters Chapter Challenge using a traditional block as our starting point.  Once again, I--the art quilter--went traditional! Since the Ohio Star of course reminded me of Christmas, I thought I'd make a holiday quilt with mine. I used green and red tone-on-tone batiks to supplement the original solid red-and-green Ohio Star block, with the reverse side of a white on white print (to tone it down) for the background.  Then I had a ton of fun with the quilting.
